CHASING THE BLUES Set for World Premiere at Chicago International FF

The world premiere is set for CHASING THE BLUES, the latest production from the Chicago-based studio, at the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival (October 12-26, 2017). Co-written and directed by Scott Smith (BEING BUCKY), the music-centric dramedy follows two rival record collectors (Grant Rosenmeyer, MONEY MONSTER) and Ronald L. Connor (REMEMBER THE TITANS) as they conspire against each other to dupe an old lady out of a rare - but cursed - blues record. In advance of the world premiere, Fulton Market Films has launched the first official film trailer and here it is:

CHASING THE BLUES sees Rosenmeyer and Connor lead an ensemble cast including comedic legends Jon Lovitz and Steve Guttenberg; television vet Chelsea Tavares (TYCOON); and seminal character actress Ana Maria Horsford (FRIDAY). When Alan and Paul (Rosenmeyer and Connor) realize they’re both after the same vintage record - a rare, cursed 1930s recording of “O Death Where Is Thy Sting?” - a series of unfortunate circumstances lands them in jail, where their feud festers for another 20 years. Once released, they’ll get a second chance at snagging the coveted vinyl, this time from an even more formidable foe (Lovitz). The film is based on the short story, also titled “O Death Where Is Thy Sting?” by Chicago-based author and film co-writer. The film is executive produced by John Fromstein (BEING BUCKY) and produced by Jacqueline “JJ” Ingram ( DRINKING BUDDIES).

Filmed entirely on location in the Chicago area and a mix of classic blues (Robert Johnson, Led Belly) and new indie blues music (The Bones of J.R. Jones, Cecil Otter), CHASING THE BLUES is as hilarious as it is heartfelt, weaving the history of the blues through the long and twisted road these two collectors find themselves on in pursuit of a piece of it. As an official selection at the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival, the film begins its film festival run in advance of future distribution.
